What is ‘Ganguro’?

Ganguro

The first issue of Bel Magazine saw our anime girl, Chibibel, introducing to you the style of Ganguro.

It is interesting to see the Ganguro style.

It is like a photo negative of a person.

What a statement- but not all photos are the same- so there are many different kinds of ‘Ganguro’.

Take a look

Google Image Search: Ganguro

We really like the crazy multi-coloured hair.

Ganguro? Yamamba?

Here is a blog that explains more about it all.

Blog: More information about Ganguro

We also have made a nice table for you to see the differences in Bel Magazine Issue 1.

Great website you have here but I was curious if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really love to be a part of online community where I can get feed-back from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

  22. BelMag says:

Hey Noemi, Thanks for the comment! I did a bit of research for you and found the following forum:

    http://www.ricoche.net/forums/

They seem to be an english-speaking community centered on the Gyaru/ Ganguro style- and it seeems the users are still active too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Read a few posts and they seem to be pretty friendly too ( wouldn’t want to send you to wolves.) You should be able to sign-up- the forum seems to have been around for a while so I think you should find some knowledgeable people there.

I also found a blog you can take a look at, it’s of someone following the Gyaru style more generally, they are also pretty active:

    chaigyaru.com

If you are just interested in Japanese Fashion in general, a website we particularly love is tokyofashion.com – they also have a facebook page. They takes street snaps of people in and around Tokyo. It’s really nice to see what other people come up with and great for getting ideas of how to assemble your own looks.

Be sure to also check out our short article on EGG Magazine ( if you haven’t already). The magazine is in Japanese but when it comes to the Gyaru/Ganguro style- if the streets Shibuya are the Ganguro school- then EGG magazine has to be the textbook! ๐Ÿ™‚

The links are a bit generic but I think you should be able to find more detailed information from the people on those site if you have any questions. ๐Ÿ™‚
